Who owns athletico physical therapy

A: I think it was the Blackhawks and the Chicago Fire in the early days that we had the opportunity to work with, and I saw a relationship opportunity before I saw the branding and advertising opportunity. I looked at it as, if we're going to have our athletic trainer, physical therapist, massage therapist working with the Chicago Blackhawks or some of these other clubs, that connects us to the team in a lot of ways.

It makes sense for an organization like the Blackhawks to have a relationship with a sports medicine, physical therapy provider. Why not us? Q: How does someone get that job, being an Athletico athletic trainer or physical therapist for a major sports team?

A: I have a ton of respect for the athletic trainers and therapists that work with these teams. The White Sox, we've probably had half a dozen of our people that have worked with the team, and we've had any number of people work and travel with United States Soccer.

We have not much staff turnover with the Blackhawks, but eventually it will happen. There will be a lot of people applying for that position. Back in the day, I would have liked to apply for that position. A: There are a lot of fakers. The level of education of a personal trainer doesn't hold a candle to what a physical therapist has gone through.

There are people that are trying to carve out the market that should be available to a physical therapist. The question the public should ask is, is the physical therapy being provided by a physical therapist, because there are some ways to dance around that.

Q: How do you stay healthy? How do you keep yourself from having to see the physical therapist? A: I've seen when I get into a bad place usually I'm out of balance and typically it's physically. I'm going through the motions with my workout, I'm not challenging myself. I pay pretty close attention to having my annual physical and my cardiac work — I have some history there in the family — and watching what I eat, except on cinnamon roll day.

Q: Are there things you miss about working with patients as a physical therapist and things you don't? A: Paperwork. The administrative burdens that are on us as medical personnel through the federal health privacy law and electronic medical record documentation is ever-growing and problematic. We as a company, corporatewise, are working to better support our therapists, giving them more time with their patients, less time in front of their laptops.

That is something I do not miss. Insight Global, Inc. Silica Company VetCor.
