As I study copywriting and great ads , I come across countless names that are known legends in the industry. They're all men. Except for Watson. A leading light among early visionary advertisers in an industry that was for decades and maybe still is dominated by men. Her first task was to move thousands of copies of the pre Encyclopedia of Etiquette for Doubleday. She did it with great success.

In fact, she sold them all in days! What a thrill to read this. I knew she was successful but had no idea she was millionare at 18!

Anyway, I remember her well from my childhood. Thank you for this insightful article, and the accompanying ad copy. I wonder if the book is worth anything? Ah that is crazy 18 years old and nailed an all time add, what a gift and how many middle aged wanna bees myself included fight over copy like its a battle field. I love it! I would never sell it; however, I am concerned of the value. I will be passing it down to my grandchildren. Thank you for you website.

It is delightful. Kevin Francis : Share the same feeling. It made a lot more sense to see the headline in context. Does anyone know the potential worth of this book? Miss Eichler was important because she was able to reach out to the masses of immigrants to America with her etiquette in a way that the blue blooded Mrs Post and others could not.

As to the value of the books…I am sorry to report that they are not worth much.
