Why is ignorance bliss
Knowledge about certain things is good. Knowing about things beforehand helps us to avoid problems or allows our creativity to bloom…But even if we are aware of everything, still how long we can avoid problematic things in our life.
As we all are mystically connected with each other in this universe. Every event impacts our life or creates ripples in our life condition whether we want it or not. Ignorance keeps us closer to facts which matter most in our day to day life. Ignorance keeps us connected to our own people who remain or stays in our life for some purpose. Somewhere I feel knowledge makes us more like a machine. The brain allows all kind of information to enter inside us.
Being knowledgeable makes our thought process more selective. Some are not. Those who score above average on intelligence tests can also be unhappy in life. We function via our deeply held beliefs. When our beliefs are not in line with reality, a false and negative perception about life is formed.
We experience sadness and suffering only due to false perception. Unhappiness is a simple outcome when we fail to recognize the existential reality as it is. In reality, there is only order, harmony, and coexistence. Other than the human species, there is nothing in the universe that is unhappy. We assume that our society, our culture has figured it all out.
That what is being preached to us is correct and we imbibe it without any cross-questioning, without validating it. All our thoughts and actions are the manifestations of our own beliefs.
These beliefs were instilled in us when we were learning from culture and education. We hold onto those beliefs firmly and never bother to question them. Quite the opposite, we defend them as if we are enlightened about the nature of reality. Thus, those invalid beliefs are never updated. We have to learn, test, and update our understanding until it is aligned with existential reality.
We want to defend our false beliefs of self even at the cost of being unhappy. Now at 16, I have noticed that reading the news daily, most of which is disheartening, has contributed to a constant low mood for the past few months. However, the shock I get from peers not being as aware of concerning issues around the world does encourage me to continue informing myself. But who ends up better off? Ignorance is also correlated with poverty.

But occasionally, and that is enough. Ignorant people are more likely to inflict unhappiness on other people, in my experience. As always, the key is balance. It is best not to be overwhelmed by either bliss or doom! We can see it, for example, in those diagnosed with a terminal illness, granting them a knowledge of their death most of us would prefer to avoid.
